Polsinelli Shareholder Melissa Ho has been selected by the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights to serve a four-year term on the Arizona State Advisory Committee (SAC).
In this role, she will provide advice and recommendations to the Commission about allegations of voting rights deprivation; race, color, religion, sexual orientation, age, disability, and national origin discrimination; and denials of equal protection of the laws.
“The work the Commission does to inform the development of national civil rights policy is critical to the fundamental principles on which our legal system is built,” said Ho, a trial attorney with a detailed understanding of government relations, intellectual property and international business. “I am honored to be able to share my experience as a former prosecutor and in defending criminal matters at both state and federal levels to support the Commission’s mission to enhance enforcement of civil rights laws.”
Ho and other committee members work to assist the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights with its fact-finding, investigative and information dissemination functions. In addition to serving the Commission, Ho volunteers in several other committees under the State Bar of Arizona, the Arizona Women Lawyers Association, and the Arizona Asian American Bar Association, to name a few.
She is the recipient of numerous distinctions including being named both the 2017 Local Litigation Future Star and Top Litigator Under 40 by Benchmark Litigation for the state. She earned bachelor’s degrees in Chinese and Biology from Arizona State University and her J.D. from the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law.
